Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Premier Community Supports hires Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) who provide high-quality, person-centered care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through in-home and community services, including day programs, positive behavioral support, and 24-hour residential assistance. We partner closely with families, guardians, case managers, and other caregivers to deeply understand the individual's needs and goals. Through collaborative planning and a fun, supportive environment, we empower individuals to thrive at home and in the community.

Essential Responsibilities

• Build a person-centered support relationship with the individual and provide care that aligns with their Individual Support Plan (ISP).
• Promote autonomy and choice: support the individual in exercising their rights and making decisions about their own life.
• Assist with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and toileting, as needed, and help with household chores (laundry, dishes, vacuuming, cleaning).
• Collaborate with the person, their family, and the support team to achieve the best possible outcomes.
• Facilitate community participation: help the person plan and attend social, recreational, and appointment-based activities according to their preferences.
• Support budgeting, shopping (food and other items), and meal preparation when necessary.
• With proper training, administer medications or support medication protocols.
• Identify and report any incidents or changes in the person's health, behavior, or circumstances, and maintain required documentation in compliance with applicable regulations.
• Provide transportation (in a personal vehicle if necessary) for errands, community outings, or appointments.
• Adapt to varying schedules (day, evening, night shifts; weekends) to meet the individual's needs.

Work Schedule and Environment

• The schedule varies according to the person's needs: availability for day, evening, night shifts, and weekends is required.
• Opportunity for overtime (with prior approval).
• Primary work environment: the person's home, with occasional travel to community locations.
• Physical demands may include lifting up to 50 lbs, stooping, crouching, standing, walking, driving, and sitting frequently. Reasonable accommodations are provided.

What We Offer

• 401(k) plan with an employer contribution of up to 4% after 90 days.
• Paid training (including CPR/First Aid and other required certifications).
• Accumulation of paid time off (PTO) for part-time and full-time DSPs; option for PTO after 1 year.
• No-cost health plan for DSPs working more than 26 hours per pay period; dental and vision benefits for full-time DSPs after 6 months (50% paid by employer).
• Regular pay dates (1st and 16th of each month).

What You Bring

• Age requirement: Must be at least 18 years or older.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Preferably: minimum 6 months of experience working with the intellectual and developmental disabilities community or 1 year of related care experience.
• Must pass a criminal background check (according to Oregon OARS state requirements).
• Valid drivers license, car insurance, and reliable vehicle (if transportation duties apply).
• Access to a smartphone (for documentation, communication, and time tracking).
• Capable of obtaining CPR and First Aid certification (training provided if needed).
• Willingness to complete required annual training (minimum 24 hours).
• Comfort with animals (if applicable)
