Senior Research Scientist

Agile Decision Sciences, LLC (ADS) is seeking a Support Scientist to support the Office of the Chief Science Data Officer (OCSDO) in NASA's Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters. This position is under ADS’s NASA Research and Education Support Services II (NRESS II) contract.The Office of the Chief Science Data Officer (OCSDO) within NASA’s Science Mission Directorate (SMD) plays a pivotal role in advancing transformative science. The OCSDO focuses on identifying and fostering collaborations in data, computing, and analytics across NASA’s astrophysics, biological and physical sciences, Earth science, heliophysics, and planetary science divisions. The OCSDO also manages NASA’s High-End Computing Capability (HECC) Portfolio, providing leadership and coordination on high-end computing capability strategies, operations, and partnerships. This work enables NASA’s cutting-edge science and engineering missions by providing a broad suite of resources and services for predictive modeling, simulation, large-scale data analytics, and operational needs.The Support Scientist will support oversight, coordination, management, planning, monitoring, and implementation of NASA HECC. This role will work specifically to manage HECC as a NASA-wide capability, provide comprehensive services to enable use of HECC, and coordinate cybersecurity across systems. This individual will attend national and international conferences and meetings and participate in SMD, interagency, and international coordination activities as needed.The ideal candidate will have a strong technical or scientific background, with an understanding of high-end computing and related infrastructure. The candidate should have experience managing complex programs or projects related to supercomputing, data centers, or cloud computing, as well as strong interpersonal skills to work effectively across a complex organization. RequirementsA competitive candidate will have:A minimum of a Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, physical sciences, or a closely related field. At least 10 years of relevant scientific or technical work experience managing complex programs related to supercomputing, data centers, or cloud computing.Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills: the individual must be able to formulate, communicate, and understand high-level plans, project documentation, and presentations. The individual will be responsible for attending and participating in meetings and conferences. Strong organizational and project management skills and the ability to track multiple tasksStrong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders across NASA and external partnersMust be a US citizen or permanent resident with the ability to pass a Government background investigation for admission to a federal facilityOther requirements:The Support Scientist will be expected to be available during normal business hours, be responsive to management, attend appropriate NASA meetings, and perform other duties as assigned, such as preparing presentations, summarizing program results, preparing other reports, and traveling to attend scientific and or management meetings, nationally and internationally. It is expected that the position will be located at NASA HQ or the contractor’s office in Arlington, VA. The Support Scientist will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and strictly adhere to the contract’s conflict of interest avoidance and mitigation plan. It is expected that the Support Scientist will not participate in proposals while employed by ASTS. The Support Scientist must openly disclose and identify any and all matters that give rise to a potential conflict of interest. This includes the appearance of bias created by involvement of a spouse or family member in any part of the proposal process.
