Special Education Teacher (LBS1) - Elementary

Location: Winnetka, Illinois

Position Overview

Navra is seeking four dedicated Special Education Teachers (LBS1) for full-time, school-based opportunities supporting elementary students in grades K-4 during the 2026-2027 school year.

These positions offer manageable student caseloads of approximately 7-12 students , allowing educators to provide individualized instruction and meaningful support based on each student's unique academic, behavioral, social, and developmental needs.

Both experienced special educators and new graduates are encouraged to apply . The school team is actively interviewing and committed to moving quickly through the hiring process.

Assignment Details

• Hours: 37.5 hours per week
• Dates: August 24, 2026 - June 11, 2027
• Grade Levels: Kindergarten-4th Grade
• Student Caseload: Approximately 7-12 students

Interview Process

Candidates will participate in an initial virtual screening interview. Candidates selected to move forward will then participate in a second-round interview with school administrators, including the building principal .

The school team is committed to an efficient interview process and is looking to make hiring decisions quickly.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs) based on each student's educational needs.
• Provide specially designed and differentiated instruction to students in grades K-4.
• Adapt curriculum, instructional strategies, and classroom materials to accommodate a variety of learning needs.
• Monitor student progress, collect and maintain data, and adjust instruction based on student performance and IEP goals.
• Foster a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional development.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, administrators, and families.
• Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, progress reporting, and other special education processes while maintaining accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
• Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) endorsement
• Knowledge of IEP development and implementation, accommodations, modifications, and differentiated instruction
• Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and classroom management skills
• Ability to support students with a range of learning and developmental needs
• Elementary special education experience preferred but not required
• New graduates are encouraged to apply
