Hospice volunteers provide comfort, companionship, and support to individuals facing the end of life and to the families who love them. At Bluebird Hospice, volunteers play a vital role in bringing dignity, presence, and humanity to end-of-life care.
As a hospice volunteer, you might:
- Sit with patients and offer companionship
- Listen to stories and life memories
- Read aloud, play music, or engage in quiet activities
- Provide respite time for caregivers
- Offer emotional support to families
- Assist with administrative tasks or community outreach
No medical experience is required—just compassion, reliability, and a willingness to be present. Comprehensive training is provided to ensure you feel confident and supported in your role.
Volunteering in hospice is not about fixing or curing. It’s about showing up, holding a hand, sharing a moment, and reminding someone they are not alone. Many volunteers find the experience deeply meaningful.
