Senior Legal AI Engineer

Salary: $100,100 - 185,900 per year Requirements:

• We need a JD, formal legal training, or equivalent experience gained in a legal practice setting.
• We look for fluency in legal language and direct experience working with lawyers, legal teams, or legal operations stakeholders.
• We require software engineering experience, ideally with AI/ML or LLM-based applications.
• We need strong Python proficiency.
• We value a solid grasp of machine learning fundamentals, LLM evaluation approaches, prompt engineering, and AI system design for specialized workflows.
• We expect excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in ambiguous, client-facing environments with both legal and technical stakeholders.

• We lead high-value client engagements by driving technical discovery, defining scope for legal use cases, and building trust with legal and technical stakeholders.
• We translate legal workflows, business challenges, and client objectives into solution concepts, technical requirements, and implementation roadmaps.
• We design and build AI-enabled solutions for legal processes such as contract review, litigation support, discovery automation, and regulatory analysis.
• We partner with our forward-deployed engineers to develop and validate RAG pipelines, custom AI agents, and multi-step workflows using CoCounsel, Westlaw, Practical Law, and related enterprise platforms.
• We oversee LLM evaluation for legal applications, including output benchmarking, hallucination analysis, citation quality testing, and fit-for-purpose validation for high-stakes legal work.
• We ensure delivered solutions align with ethical AI, data protection, and enterprise security standards.
• We contribute reusable solution assets and assess emerging AI methods to improve quality and delivery across our team.
