Position: Recovery Specialist Department: Brockton Meadowbrook Site – CSS Schedule: Per Diem (Days, Evenings, Nights; Weekdays, Weekends) ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES Engage patients in a residential setting and explain the role and services of the recovery specialist. Collaborate with the behavioral health counselor to assist patients in the development and implementation of a recovery plan for adults struggling with SUD, mental health or dual diagnoses. Provide appropriate recovery information, referrals, and linkages to help individuals improve recovery and reduce risk behaviors, including but not limited to healthcare support services, social work, financial assistance, child‑care, housing, food, transportation, food pantries, and other community resources. Provide ongoing support and follow‑up as necessary to support recovery and healthy lifestyle; support and understand different paths to recovery. Facilitate peer recovery support groups on a weekly basis. Use caring, non‑judgmental language and motivational enhancement techniques, including motivational interviewing, to encourage patients to identify and prioritize their personal needs. Gain and share information about specific health topics most relevant to the population being served. Document patient encounters, resource development efforts, and other interventions for each patient, including date, time, and signature in the electronic medical record. Conform to hospital standards of performance and conduct, including patient rights and privacy; utilize hospital policies and standards as the basis for decision making and to support the hospital’s mission and goals. Perform other duties assigned or as necessary and must adhere to all of BMC’s RESPECT behavioral standards. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Associate’s degree (or equivalent combination of formal education and experience in community health) plus a minimum of 2 years in healthcare/substance use treatment field is required. May waive experience requirement for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None required. Experience: At least 2+ years working in a healthcare/substance use treatment setting, preferably with adolescents/young adults and/or individuals with substance use disorders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, e‑mail, and the internet. Ability to research community resources independently. Understanding of recovery principles; lived experience preferred. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of community, social, and health resources, especially substance use‑related resources; empathic understanding of patients; skilled in performing multicultural needs assessments and developing concrete service plans; ability to establish and maintain working relationships with patients, families, professionals, and the community; competency in data entry and computer use; ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem‑solving abilities; effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; bilingual or multilingual skills beyond English preferred; flexibility with client priorities, evolving needs, and goals; sensitivity to ethnic, cultural, gender, and sexual orientation diversity. COMPENSATION Compensation Range: $16.35 – $22.84 per hour. This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications.
