Radiology Trainee - CT Tech Student

Summary: Performs radiological procedures at technical level that requires direct supervision. Must be considered a second level student by clinical supervisor.

Responsibilities:

  • Support qualified radiologic technologists in the preparation and performance of CT imaging procedures.
  • Learn how to prepare patients for CT exams, including obtaining history relevant to the imaging procedure.
  • Practice clear communication about the procedure, breath-hold instructions, and post-procedure care.
  • Reviewing contraindications for contrast agents.
  • Observe the administration of iodinated IV contrast under supervision
  • Learn to recognize signs of contrast reactions and emergency response protocols.
  • Observe and participate in patient positioning specific to CT protocols (e.g., head, chest, abdomen, spine).
  • Gain exposure to operating multi-slice CT scanners, performing quality control checks, and preparing equipment.
  • Understand the differences in scan acquisition parameters and reconstruction techniques.
  • Observe image reconstruction and post-processing techniques (e.g., MPR, 3D rendering).
  • Assist with patient throughput

Other Information: Education Requirements: High School Graduate or GED required. Must be attending AMA approved school of radiologic technology. Must be in CT Tech certification course Licensure/Certification Requirements: None required. Professional Experience Requirements: None required. Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
