Senior User Experience Researcher

Responsibilities Apply human factors expertise, principles and standards, and research methods to tackle diverse healthcare technology challenges. Take a rigorous, scientific approach while allowing creativity and innovation. Conduct quantitative and qualitative research to understand context of use, identify opportunities for improvement, and validate usefulness, safety, and effectiveness of designs. Lead investigations of complex and dynamic interactions across clinical roles, care settings, products, and time horizons. Ensure all research activities meet regulatory standards. Produce research outcomes that directly inform product strategy and design. Work with UX Design and Product leaders to ensure designs meet functional and end-user needs and internal standards. Design and lead complex research studies, building on prior findings. Influence and gather end user requirements and translate them into innovative designs. Recruit representative participants and coordinate research activities with end-users. Identify and mitigate safety hazards throughout product development lifecycle. Define and defend usability and safety goals for a product group. Coach team members and collaborate with stakeholders to provide education and feedback. Deliver compelling presentations of research findings and recommendations. Key Tasks Plan and execute research studies with minimal guidance. Monitor research activities, identify setbacks, and adjust plans to stay on time. Advocate for end users and partner for product improvement. Develop working knowledge of research methods, tools, and industry trends. Analyze data and synthesize findings into actionable insights. Collaborate across teams to align on expectations and achieve shared objectives. Identify and address standard and non-standard issues, escalating as needed. Commit to continuous learning and improvement of processes, protocols, and workflows. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Ergonomics, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Engineering, Informatics, or a related field. 5+ years of user research experience on software, preferably in safety-critical or regulated industries. Strong scientific background in research methods, cognition, ergonomics, perception, and human decision-making. Solid understanding of human factors principles, usability principles, and interface design best practices. Proactive and organized multitasker who works well under time pressures. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to distill research insights into audience-appropriate formats. Availability to work additional or irregular hours as needed. Preferred Qualifications M.S. or Ph.D. in Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Human Factors, Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Usability Engineering, Information Sciences, or a related field. 7+ years of experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research. Experience informing or evaluating the design of electronic healthcare software or other safety-critical systems. Familiarity with human factors standards and regulatory guidance for healthcare systems. Experience with research platforms such as UserZoom, UsabilityHub, dScout, QDA tools, and Qualtrics. Other Expectations Position based in the United States with flexibility for remote or hybrid work, depending on team and business needs. Recommended availability between 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Central Time. Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively and proficiently.
