Headquartered in centrally located Chehalis, Washington, Alta operates in multiple Northwest rural communities including Morton, WA; Winlock, WA; Shelton, WA; Amanda Park, WA; Lewiston ID; Bonners Ferry, ID; and Naples, ID.The RoleMaintaining, repairing, and changing saws for the mill.ResponsibilitiesBench and fit of both band saws and round sawsMaintain Micarta and Babbitt guidesMaintain filing equipmentSharpen chipper knivesPerform machine center alignments on sawsTransport sawsChange saws at machine centersDiscard and/or repair damaged sawsOther duties as assignedQualifications2+ years of experience with saw filingStrong commitment to safety values and expertise with LOTOPreferred knowledge of fitting and benching both bandsaws and round sawsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Ability and willingness to join and maintain good standing in the Western States Regional Council of Carpenters (required).This position is classified as "safety-sensitive," meaning that an accident in this role could result in loss of life, serious bodily injury, or significant damage to property or the environment, as such candidates will be subject to comprehensive pre-employment drug screening, inclusive of marijuana (THC).Work EnvironmentThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
