Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Nexus Neurorecovery Center – San Antonio is seeking a compassionate and experienced Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to join our interdisciplinary team. Our residential treatment center provides structured, trauma-informed care for female adolescents with complex behavioral, emotional, medical, and neurodevelopmental needs.

The BCBA will assess behavior, develop individualized treatment strategies, and help create a safe, therapeutic environment in which each resident can build meaningful skills and achieve greater independence. This position works closely with clinical leadership, therapists, nursing professionals, direct-care staff, families, and guardians to ensure behavioral interventions are effective, developmentally appropriate, and integrated throughout the resident's treatment.

What You Will Do

• Conduct functional behavior assessments, skill-based assessments, and ongoing behavioral evaluations.
• Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized behavior intervention plans based on assessment findings and measurable treatment goals.
• Create behavioral goals for each resident's master treatment plan in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Use evidence-based behavioral interventions consistent with current Behavior Analyst Certification Board standards.
• Incorporate trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate practices into behavioral programming.
• Consider each resident's behavioral, emotional, developmental, environmental, and medical needs when designing treatment.
• Collect and analyze behavioral data to measure progress, evaluate program effectiveness, and guide treatment decisions.
• Monitor treatment fidelity and modify interventions when data indicate that changes are needed.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, direct-care staff, and other members of the treatment team.
• Train and support team members in the consistent implementation of behavioral strategies, crisis-prevention techniques, and resident-specific plans.
• Provide supervision and clinical guidance to Registered Behavior Technicians and other assigned support staff.
• Develop caregiver and family-training plans that support skill generalization, successful transitions, and continuity of care following discharge.
• Participate in discharge planning and help prepare families, guardians, and receiving providers to continue effective behavioral supports.
• Advocate for residents' behavioral, developmental, educational, and treatment needs.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with organizational, regulatory, ethical, and payer requirements.
• Monitor behavioral program outcomes, service utilization, productivity expectations, and documentation quality.
• Participate in treatment team meetings, peer reviews, internal audits, and quality-improvement initiatives.
• Support accurate authorization and billing processes through timely documentation and collaboration with administrative staff.
• Promote resident safety, dignity, inclusion, and participation in developmentally appropriate activities.
• Maintain compliance with the BACB Ethics Code, HIPAA requirements, and all applicable organizational and regulatory standards.
• Complete required continuing education, competency validation, ethics training, and supervision requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring

Education

• Master's degree or higher in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Experience

• At least two years of experience providing applied behavior analysis services to pediatric or adolescent populations.
• Experience supporting individuals with complex behavioral, medical, psychiatric, or neurodevelopmental needs.
• Experience working with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual or developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, genetic syndromes, or related diagnoses is beneficial.
• Previous experience in a residential treatment, behavioral health, healthcare, or interdisciplinary clinical environment is preferred.
• Experience with trauma-informed behavioral care is strongly preferred.

Licensure and Certifications

• Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst certification in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
• Current Texas behavior analyst licensure, if required for the position.
• Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Certification must remain valid for at least six months from the date of hire.
• Completion of required de-escalation training within 30 days of hire.
• All required certifications must remain current and in good standing throughout employment.

Knowledge and Skills

• Strong functional assessment, clinical judgment, and behavioral data-analysis skills.
• Ability to develop practical behavioral strategies for use across a 24-hour residential treatment environment.
• Understanding of adolescent development, trauma-informed care, and complex behavioral presentations.
• Strong communication, training, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with residents, families, guardians, clinicians, and direct-care professionals.
• Ability to respond calmly and professionally to challenging or escalating situations.
• Proficiency with electronic health records and behavioral data-management systems.
• Cultural awareness and the ability to adapt services to the individual needs, identity, and background of each resident.
