Production Management Trainee

Job Summary The Production Management Trainee is responsible for developing comprehensive knowledge of plant operations and manufacturing processes. Works under close direction of an assigned mentor and exercises little discretion and judgment on work priority with a small degree of creativity expected. Responsibilities Develop comprehensive knowledge of company products and procedures through on‑job training activities. Develop comprehensive knowledge of panel and lumber grades. Acquire knowledge of lumber math and efficient utilization of materials and develop full understanding of cuts and yields. Learn how to operate the company’s business system to perform required administrative functions. Develop detailed knowledge of product costing. Understand production scheduling process. Build working knowledge of budget and expense control process. Supervise activities consistent with company policies, procedures and applicable laws and regulations. Learn continuous improvement, efficiency standards, and safety. Understand human resources policies and practices. Taste other facilities and customer locations to develop understanding of operations. Complete courses and assignments as directed. Prepare reports as required. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required. Proficiency in MS Excel spreadsheets required.
