About the Role: As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a critical role in helping individuals of all ages regain and improve their ability to perform daily activities and enhance their quality of life. You will assess patients' physical, emotional, and cognitive needs to develop personalized treatment plans that promote independence and functional recovery. Your work will involve collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to address complex rehabilitation challenges, including those related to stroke, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, and orthopedic conditions. You will provide therapeutic interventions that incorporate sensory integration and adaptive techniques tailored to each patient's unique circumstances. Ultimately, your efforts will empower patients to overcome barriers and achieve meaningful participation in their home, work, and community environments. Sign-On Bonus Available!!! Skills: The required skills in occupational therapy, physical therapy, and rehabilitation are applied daily to assess patient needs and design effective treatment plans that promote recovery and independence. Expertise in geriatric rehabilitation and orthopedic rehabilitation allows you to tailor interventions for older adults and patients recovering from surgeries or injuries. Knowledge of cerebral palsy, sensory integration, and traumatic brain injury is essential for addressing complex neurological conditions and improving patients' functional abilities. Stroke rehabilitation skills enable you to support patients through critical recovery phases, enhancing motor skills and cognitive function. These skills, combined with strong communication and teamwork abilities, ensure comprehensive patient care and successful rehabilitation outcomes.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current and valid Occupational Therapist license to practice in Louisiana.
- Demonstrated experience in rehabilitation settings, including physical and geriatric rehabilitation.
- Strong knowledge of neurological and orthopedic conditions such as stroke, cerebral palsy, and traumatic brain injury.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and multidisciplinary teams.
- Certification in Sensory Integration Therapy or related specialized training.
- Experience working with pediatric populations or in outpatient rehabilitation clinics.
- Advanced training or certification in stroke rehabilitation or traumatic brain injury management.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipment for occupational therapy.
- Continuing education in evidence-based occupational therapy practices and rehabilitation innovations.
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities to identify rehabilitation goals.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on improving patients' functional skills and independence.
- Utilize therapeutic techniques such as sensory integration, physical therapy modalities, and adaptive equipment training.
- Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, speech therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
- Document patient progress and adjust treatment plans based on ongoing assessments and patient feedback.
- Educate patients and their families on strategies to manage conditions and promote long-term wellness.
