Dishwasher/Prep Cook

The dishwasher/prep cook role at Downtime Bakery is for someone who is used to a fast-paced environment, comfortable working alone for long stretches at a time, happy to efficientily finish a list of tasks in front of them, and has high standards for what a clean dish pit and prep station looks like. This job is mostly dishwashing, with additional prep hours built into the beginning of a shift and the end of a shift, but this job isn't for someone who is looking to advance to another position at the bakery, in FOH or BOH (though, for the right person with the right eye and attention to detail for the work, it will still be considered). We are looking strictly for a dishwasher and a prep cook to help us accomplish prep tasks like peeling, washing, and storing produce; assembling bagel sandwiches and morning rolls; and dishwashing. 

The hours are Thursday through Monday, 8am to 4pm, though the job will begin as Thursday through Sunday, 8am to 4pm. We are planning to open on Mondays in the coming future, which would become a fifth dishwashing/prep day for this candidate.

Responsibilities Include:

• Washing dishes
• Mopping
• Sweeping
• Bringing bus bins back from the cafe
• Wiping down tables in the cafe
• Keeping the dish area clean
• Working with the team to make sure we maintain an excellent environment for ourselves and our customers
• On Saturdays and Sundays, manning our bagel prep station, making sandwiches for customers from 8am until 10am. Occasionally additional prep will happen on Thursday and Friday afternoons, if the dish pit is organized and clean.
• Dish shift is from 8 to 4 on Thursdays and Fridays, and 8 to 4 on Saturdays and Sundays.

Job Requirements:

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs
• Must be comfortable working on your feet for 8-hour days in a high-energy environment
• Ability to ask for help when needed; ability to provide help to others when needed
• Collaborative, communicative, and interested in learning and growing
• 30 minute break happens at noon.
