Regional Chief Development Officer

Job Description The American Red Cross of Idaho & East Oregon (Boise & Pleasant Valley) is seeking a dynamic, visionary Chief Development Officer to lead the fundraising and donor engagement strategy for the region. As the Regional Chief Development Officer (RCDO), you will strengthen and grow the donor base, design and execute multi-year fundraising strategies, oversee the Regional Philanthropy Officer, collaborate with regional leaders, maintain a portfolio of major donors, and personally lead solicitation efforts. Key Responsibilities Design and execute multi-year fundraising strategies to grow annual revenue and build a sustainable donor base. Guide and mentor the Regional Philanthropy Officer, engage leadership volunteers, and implement effective fundraising strategies. Serve as the primary liaison for the Board's Philanthropy Committee, supporting members in their fundraising roles. Oversee implementation of organizational campaigns, direct the Regional Development team, and ensure compliance with reporting requirements. Achieve or exceed the Region's minimum fundraising target and manage fundraising expense targets. Cultivate relationships with large corporations, foundations, and Board members, and collaborate with national headquarters development staff. Personally manage a portfolio of high-capacity donors and lead face-to-face solicitations and stewardship. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred. Minimum 7 years of fundraising leadership experience (or equivalent combination of education and related experience). Proven track record of increasing philanthropic revenue from diverse constituencies, designing broad-based fundraising programs, and applying best practices in development. Five years of management experience. Valid driver's license and good driving record. Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and strategic planning abilities. Proficiency with MS Office and fundraising CRM systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce). Frequent travel within Idaho, Montana, and Oregon; occasional travel to Washington, D.C. Preferred Competencies Deep familiarity with the local community and existing relationships with regional stakeholders, donors or partners; familiarity with current philanthropy trends. Physical & Work Schedule Requirements Hybrid work schedule: 2-3 days per week in the office, including field work in Boise and Pleasant Valley. Physical demands include use of a personal computer, driving, and working under challenging conditions.
