About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Cardiac Tele/Stepdown Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: - Must be able to titrate drips including Heparin, Insulin, Nitro, and other cardiac gtts. - Experience in high acuity stepdown care is essential. Description: This unit has 36 beds. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5 for MedSurg/Tele acuity, with rare instances of 1:6 if anticipating discharge. PCU acuity ratios are 1:4. Common patient diagnoses include cardiac conditions, post-procedure recovery, respiratory failure, and post-operative care. The unit requires the management of cardiac drips and may include occasional titration. There is a charge nurse present 24/7; the charge nurse does not take patient assignments during the day, but does so at night. Nursing assistants are typically assigned, ideally one for every 9 patients, and team nursing is practiced. Respiratory Therapy manages equipment such as CPAP and BiPap. Telemetry monitoring is done with Phillips monitors, and nurses must read and interpret strips. Scheduling is done in 12-hour shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM, with every other weekend required. Travelers are incorporated into the holiday rotation alongside permanent staff. There may be occasions to float to other units based on staffing needs. Dress code requires royal blue scrubs for RNs.
