Overview Maintains, installs, and repairs plumbing equipment. Provides for the reliable and safe operation of the hospital plumbing distribution system. Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: Trinity Health Oakland. Full Time Journeyman Responsibilities (Essential Functions) Assists in planning, installation, and maintenance of hospital water and drain systems. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment according to established procedures and guidelines and documents results to comply with all regulatory accreditation and licensing standards. Performs corrective maintenance including diagnosing problems using electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or other sciences and documents results to comply with all regulatory accreditation and licensing standards. Interacts with clinical staff to understand and resolve operational problems. Completes daily time sheet in Team Ops to track work orders and preventive maintenance, and miscellaneous work done. Determines need for replacement parts and supplies and orders as appropriate. Coordinates and monitors support efforts with outside service organizations when necessary to ensure work performed is appropriate and documented. Maintains age-specific safety precautions within the facility. Promotes teamwork by keeping others informed and contributing to group decisions; solicit feedback about effectiveness as a team member. Continually improves processes by seeking ways to eliminate and reduce waste. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Minimum: A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) Preferred: An Associate's degree (two-year program or two to three years of college) or equivalent formal training. Credentials/Licensure Minimum: A current Journeyman plumber’s license Preferred: A current Master plumber’s license Related Experience Minimum: Four years plumbing experience Preferred: Five or more years experience, hospital experience preferred Other Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Minimum: Working knowledge of and ability to use basic hand tools and the test equipment specific to the field. Ability to follow written instructions, perform tasks and document actions taken. Read and understand blueprints and schematics. Preferred: Experience with Pro-Press fittings and tools. Computer Competency Shows how to use (through a competency assessment) a standard desktop and Windows-based computer system, including a basic understanding of email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software as required to perform the essential functions of the job. Physical/Mental Minimum: Must be physically able to balance, bend, climb, crawl, crouch, kneel, reach, sit, squat, stand, twist, and walk. Must be able to concentrate while subject to interruptions and changing work priorities. Must be able to work while exposed to infectious disease, dust and inclement weather, temperature variations, radiation, fumes/vapors, sharp instruments/tools, hazardous liquids, and operating machinery. Must have near vision, far vision, depth perception, and color discrimination. Must have sensory ability to distinguish hot/cold, temperature ranges, surfaces, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and odors. Must frequently use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to bend, reach overhead, and lift/push/pull up to 100 pounds; ability to work in cramped/confined areas for extended periods. Working Conditions Hospital environment with potential exposure to contagious disease. Exposed to wet, slippery, unsteady, irregular and narrow surfaces; indoor and outdoor temperatures; fumes, dust, hazardous materials, noise, and weather-related conditions.
