We are seeking a Staff Tax Accountant to join our Springfield, MO office. This role supports client engagements by preparing accurate and timely federal, state, and local tax returns for high-net-worth business owners across a variety of industries. The Staff Accountant will assist with tax planning strategies for high-net-worth business owners and related entities, research tax issues and provide recommendations to leadership, review client documentation for accuracy, identify discrepancies, and propose corrections, prepare workpapers and schedules to support the review process, meet with clients to gather information, present findings, and deliver completed returns, maintain accurate client records and ensure compliance with firm policies, monitor filing deadlines and ensure timely submission of returns, respond to client inquiries in a professional and timely manner, and collaborate across tax, audit, and accounting teams to support client needs.

Core competencies include strong knowledge of tax laws and compliance standards, an analytical mindset with attention to detail, effective client communication and relationship management, high organization with a focus on accuracy and deadlines, problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies, team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across functions, and maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information. Supervisory responsibilities may include overseeing and supporting interns and reporting to senior accountants, managers, or partners. The work environment and expectations include a full-time, salaried exempt position with standard business hours and flexibility, occasional extended hours, and primarily office-based in Springfield, MO.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in accounting required; master's and CPA eligibility preferred, 1–3 years of tax preparation experience, ideally in public accounting, proficiency in Microsoft Office required, experience with UltraTax, QuickBooks (Desktop & Online), and AdvanceFlow preferred, and ability to pass a CJIS background check. This position requires regular communication, close vision, and the ability to focus on detailed financial information.
