About the Position

Job Title: RN - Med Surg Profession: Nursing Specialty: Agency Staff RN Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum 2 Years License: Registered Nurse (RN) Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred Must-Have: - Experience with NGTs, drains, chest tubes, wound vacs, blood transfusions, mobilizing patients, and heparin drips - Excellent communication skills - Teamwork-oriented - Reliable and able to complete standard work Description: Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the state. Demonstrates competency through critical thinking using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes. Education: Required Associate's Degree in Nursing. Required completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Science in Nursing within specified time frames depending on the hire date. Experience: Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program. Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills. Time management and organizational skills. Self-directed with the ability to make quality, independent decisions. Analytical and strong problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, high volumes, and multiple interruptions. Maintains strict confidentiality levels. Ability to listen to others. Competent in the use of various computer hardware and software systems. Essential Functions: Provides evidence-based nursing care consistent with the interprofessional plan of care. Communicates and collaborates with other healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care. Acts as a patient/family advocate. Demonstrates high standards of moral, ethical, and culturally sensitive behavior. Formulates decisions and actions based on ethical principles using the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. Advocates for privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient and organizational data. Assesses the overall needs of the patient/family and analyzes assessment data to identify potential diagnoses or issues. Identifies expected outcomes/goals and develops individualized interprofessional care plans. Evaluates patient and family educational needs and employs appropriate teaching strategies. Initiates discharge planning at the time of patient contact and facilitates transitions. Ensures that documentation is performed accurately and in a timely manner. Assumes a leadership role and delegates appropriately to facilitate safe patient care. Engages in activities related to the professional role to advance knowledge and competence. Participates in ongoing improvement activities that contribute to quality patient care. Actively participates in safety initiatives and completes all safety-related competencies. Performs other duties as assigned.
