About the Role
The Company is in search of a Managing Director for Life Underwriting to lead a team of underwriters within its Consumer Markets division. This senior leadership role is pivotal in the evaluation of complex life insurance risks and driving the overall business performance. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing a team of underwriting professionals, overseeing full-cycle underwriting decisions, and ensuring adherence to quality, productivity, and performance standards. Key responsibilities also include contributing to strategic initiatives and enhancing underwriting tools and processes. Applicants for the Managing Director position must have a minimum of 10 years' of life insurance underwriting experience, with a strong technical proficiency, and a proven track record of prior leadership in managing underwriting teams. The role requires advanced decision-making authority on large face amounts, typically $15M+, and the ability to demonstrate critical thinking and sound judgment in complex case evaluations. Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships both internally and externally are essential. The ideal candidate will be a senior underwriting professional ready to take on a leadership role during a period of transformation, with a focus on underwriting innovation and accelerated capabilities.
