Title: Registered Nurse, Labor and Delivery
Type: local contract
Hours: 36 hours weekly, 7pm to 7am shift
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Dates: July 6 to August 29, 2026
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery to join a high-performing maternal care team. The ideal candidate will have recent Labor & Delivery experience and demonstrate strong clinical judgment, excellent patient communication, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while delivering exceptional care to mothers and newborns.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring, delivering, and postpartum patients in accordance with established standards of practice
- Assess, monitor, and document maternal and fetal status throughout labor and delivery
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as ordered
- Assist physicians and interdisciplinary teams during labor, delivery, and emergency situations
- Monitor fetal heart tracings and identify changes requiring intervention
- Educate patients and families regarding labor progression, delivery expectations, recovery, and newborn care
- Support patient safety initiatives and maintain accurate medical documentation
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiology, neonatal teams, and support staff to coordinate patient care
- Respond effectively to obstetric emergencies while maintaining a calm and patient-centered approach
Qualifications
- Active Pennsylvania Registered Nurse (RN) License required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Minimum 2+ years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience required
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
