Role Description The Regional Sales Representative is a full-time, on-site role based in Portland, ME. This role focuses on meeting with homeowners and community members to explain community solar programs clearly and accurately, answer questions, and guide interested customers through the enrollment process. Daily responsibilities include prospecting in assigned territories, scheduling and attending face-to-face meetings, presenting program benefits, and maintaining detailed records of leads, conversations, and conversions. The Regional Sales Representative collaborates closely with the sales leadership team to refine messaging, meet regional targets, and ensure a positive customer experience from first contact through ongoing support. This position also involves participating in local events, representing AEG in the community, and providing feedback that helps improve outreach strategies and customer education materials. Qualifications Demonstrated skills in direct, face-to-face sales, territory management, and relationship building with customers and community partners. Strong communication, active listening, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts (such as energy billing and solar credits) in clear, simple terms. Customer service and problem-solving abilities, including handling questions, resolving concerns, and maintaining a professional, respectful approach in all interactions. Basic proficiency with CRM tools, lead tracking, and digital communication platforms to document outreach and manage follow-ups. Self-motivated, goal-oriented work style, with the ability to work independently in the field while collaborating effectively with an office-based team. Comfort working in a fast-growing, mission-driven environment and an interest in renewable energy or sustainability. Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation for travel within the region, and willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends. Prior sales or community outreach experience is strongly preferred; experience in energy, utilities, or home services is a plus.
