Job Summary:
The Mammography Technologist performs screening and diagnostic breast and bone density exams and procedures onpatients of all ages to provide physicians with data for diagnostic purposes. The Mammography Technologist worksunder the direction of a Radiologist and/or Manager.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Demonstrates sound knowledge in the performance of Breast and Bone Density Imaging while adhering todepartment protocol and standards and applies the principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patients,self and others.Performs a variety of exams including Breast and Bone Density imaging. Evaluates images for technicalquality. Performs post processing of data and ensures proper patient identification is recorded.Provides optimal patient care and assumes responsibility for the patient's needs during their proceduresand exemplifies the philosophy of Patient Family Centered care to all.Applies the principles of patient safety during all aspects of patient care. Identifies and responds toemergency situations in an appropriate manner. Strictly adheres to the principles of aseptic technique andhand washing policies.Assists the Radiologist with procedures and protocols.Performs other duties as assignedComplies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education:

• Accredited Program Radiologic Technology

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

• BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
• ARRT-M - ARRT Mammography
• ARRT-R - ARRT Radiography

Additional License(s) and Certification(s):

Required Minimum Experience:
Minimum 2 years Diagnostic Radiography/X-Ray. Required orMinimum 1 year Breast imaging Preferred
Required Minimum Skills:
Ability to operate Radiographic equipmentAbility to communicate verbally and writtenPossess excellent patient/customer service skillsOperate Breast Imaging Unit- PreferredKnowledge of Mammography positioning techniques-Preferred
