Risk Control Technical Consultant, Field

Compensation Overview The annual base salary range for this position is $94,400.00 – $155,800.00. Additional compensation may include performance-based cash incentive awards. What Is the Opportunity? Provide the Underwriter with account knowledge regarding hazards, controls, and management. Evaluate how a company identifies and manages its inherent risk factors. Differentiate the account from others in similar classes of business. This role involves working with larger, more complex all-lines accounts and reports to the Risk Control Field Director or Managing Risk Control Consultant. What Will You Do? Maintain a consistent field presence, spending approximately 20%–50% of the time onsite with customers. Travel to customers, including long‑distance, overnight, or multi‑night trips as needed. Partner with Underwriting to select, retain, and grow a profitable book of business. Build and maintain productive relationships with Underwriting, Claim, Risk Control Specialists, and Brokers to service customers as a unified team. Complete all‑lines risk assessment evaluations for diverse businesses with moderate to high complexity. Write technically detailed reports that communicate a clear assessment of risk and effectively articulate recommendations. Discover and evaluate customer needs through loss analysis and customer readiness to provide Risk Control products and services. Identify uncontrolled exposures and influence customers to make improvements and take corrective actions. Provide solutions to assist the customer in risk mitigation through the use of our extensive resources. Stay current with technical subject matters, regulatory environment, and emerging issues. Create a valued customer experience through each assessment and service encounter. Perform other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? Bachelor's or graduate degree in environmental health and safety, engineering, construction management, basic sciences, or related technical fields. Strong knowledge of the insurance industry and business acumen. Relevant certifications such as ASP, CSP, ARM, or CFPS. Technical aptitude and strong attention to detail. Superior written and verbal communication skills. Ability to quickly establish credibility and rapport with all stakeholders. Experience working in a collaborative environment. Critical thinking and influencing skills that drive business needs. Negotiation skills to achieve optimal outcomes. Ability to give and receive coaching and feedback. What Is a Must Have? Five years of experience in safety, risk control/management, or a related field such as occupational/environmental health and safety, science, engineering, construction, manufacturing, or relevant military experience. Valid driver's license. Ability to attain or hold appropriate certification to meet state‑specific requirements where applicable. What Is in It for You?
