Job Description

The cook accurately and efficiently prepares, portions, and presents a wide variety of hot and cold food items for multiple meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special or catered events. This role supports high-volume food production while maintaining quality, consistency, and food safety standards in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold food items for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special or catered events.
• Perform comprehensive food preparation tasks, including mixing, chopping, slicing, grilling, steaming, and cold prep activities.
• Use all standard kitchen equipment safely and correctly to support food production and service.
• Cook fish, chicken, meat, and other proteins according to established recipes and quality standards.
• Follow recipes and production guidelines to ensure consistent portion sizes, taste, and presentation.
• Support catering and banquet cooking operations, including high-volume and event-based food service.
• Assist with inventory control by monitoring stock levels and communicating supply needs.
• Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed to maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Clean and sanitize workstations and food preparation areas in accordance with hygiene and safety standards.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely meal service.
• Follow instructions from culinary leadership and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Support hospitality and food production needs across different meal periods and events as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience in cooking and food preparation in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Ability to perform both hot and cold food preparation, including grilling, steaming, slicing, chopping, and mixing.
• Ability to use all standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Strong knife skills and ability to handle knives safely for cutting and prep work.
• Experience cooking fish, chicken, meat, and other proteins to proper doneness and quality standards.
• Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently.
• Experience with catering and banquet cooking or high-volume food production.
• Ability to manage basic inventory control tasks and monitor stock levels.
• Capability to wash dishes and maintain clean, organized workstations.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a hospitality and food service environment.
• Capacity to follow instructions and adapt to changing needs during busy service periods.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background in hospitality, food production, or related culinary roles.
• Experience as a line cook or in similar cooking and prepping positions.
• Familiarity with dishwasher operation and general kitchen cleaning procedures.
• Catering and banquet experience supporting special events and large groups.

Work Environment

The role is based in a busy, professional kitchen that supports daily meal service and special events. You work with a full range of commercial kitchen equipment in a fast-paced setting that emphasizes teamwork, safety, and cleanliness.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Worth, TX.

The pay range for this position is $16.25 - $17.10/hr.
