Principal Nutrition Scientist – Ocean Spray We’re a farmer‑owned co‑op where everyone rolls up their sleeves to get the job done. The role will be hybrid, based out of our corporate headquarters in Lakeville, MA with Mondays and Fridays remote. Annual Salary: $105,800 – $145,420 Responsibilities Provides strategic direction for nutrition research activities to promote new and current areas of cranberry health benefits and other health‑promoting functional ingredients. Drives long‑term health positioning and competitive advantage. Defines the research agenda based on enterprise direction and influences the innovation pipeline. Coordinates and supports basic and clinical research activities by initiating new collaborations, reviewing literature, and attending conferences. Coordinates and executes nutrition policy activities in cross‑functional teams to provide technical support for development and marketing of innovative health products globally. Directs development of substantiation for functional ingredients to support marketing claims and regulatory approvals globally. Establishes strong working relationships with academic influencers and external collaborators. Provides nutrition technical expertise to cross‑functional team members for evaluation of emerging technology to support health innovations, product innovations, and sustainability. Is familiar with patent search, analysis, and mapping; relays opinions on claims and patent interpretations. Plans nutrition research activities to promote new and current areas of cranberry health benefits and other health‑promoting functional ingredients. Executes and leads the development and support of research and claims. Qualifications Ph.D. in nutrition, biochemistry, human health, or biology. At least 5 years of relevant experience. Education in nutrition, biochemistry, human health, or biology. Clinical design and biostatistics knowledge. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong execution and management skills. Demonstrated strategic and innovation mindset and ability to engage and influence external collaborators. Ability to influence, mentor, and guide cross‑functional strategic alignment. Preferred: Deep knowledge of nutrition and claims regulations. Working knowledge of food science, analytical chemistry, or food technology. Understanding of the nutrition and policy landscape and ability to navigate and influence to support business needs. Project management and strategic planning skills. Leadership and mentorship skills. Strategic and creative mindset. Ability to manage ambiguity.
