The role involves providing post-operative care for orthopedic, bariatric, and colorectal surgery patients. This position also involves caring for Level III trauma patients as well as handling medical-surgical overflow when necessary. The unit is equipped to monitor up to eight telemetry patients. Candidates must be willing to work every other weekend, floating, and holidays within the contract. Travelers must work two of the three winter holidays. Daily census is typically around 28 patients with an emphasis on post-surgical care. Ideal candidates will have experience in managing telemetry patients and various post-operative care scenarios. Special equipment and procedures may include the use of telemetry monitoring and care for surgical drains. Interdisciplinary support is available from various teams including IV, physical therapy, and social services.
