Insurance Coverage Attorney

Join the legal team at the premier professional liability insurer serving the U.S. mutual fund industry. Our client, ICI Mutual Insurance Company, has hired our firm on an exclusive basis to assist in recruiting an experienced insurance attorney to join its legal department as an Assistant or Associate Counsel, depending on experience. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this is a rare opportunity to move into a sophisticated in-house role with the leading provider of Fidelity Bond and Directors & Officers/Errors & Omissions insurance to the U.S. mutual fund industry. You’ll work closely with underwriting and senior management on complex insurance coverage, claims, compliance, and corporate matters while developing expertise at the intersection of insurance and investment management. Specific responsibilities include: Advising on insurance coverage and underwriting matters Reviewing underwriting submissions, policy quotations, confidentiality agreements, and reinsurance contracts Analyzing complex coverage issues and emerging legal risks Drafting policy language, endorsements, and legal correspondence Assisting with claims management and outside counsel Supporting corporate governance, Board materials, compliance initiatives, and regulatory matters Contributing to risk management publications and industry education Qualifications 5+ years of legal experience (Assistant Counsel) or 8+ years (Associate Counsel) Strong insurance background, ideally involving professional liability, D&O/E&O, or other specialty insurance lines Law firm experience representing insurers is strongly preferred, although qualified in-house candidates will also be considered Prior work experience with investment management regulation, mutual fund compliance, or U.S. securities laws preferred; candidates without this background are expected to develop it in the role Why Join ICI Mutual Unique opportunity to serve as a trusted advisor within a stable, mission‑driven organization that operates at the intersection of insurance, law, and the investment management industry.
