Full-Time Assistant Store Manager

The assistant store manager plays a vital role in supporting the effective and efficient operation of an ALDI store. Reporting directly to the store manager, the assistant store manager oversees store operations to drive sales growth, control expenses, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. This role requires a strong commitment to developing store personnel by fostering a positive and collaborative environment, upholding ALDI’s values, and adhering to established company policies and procedures. The assistant store manager is a key leader who actively contributes to the success and sustainability of the store through effective team management, operational excellence, and a customer-focused approach.  

Position Type: Full-Time
Average Hours: 38 hours per week
Starting Wage: $25.50 per hour
Wage Increase: Year 2 - $26.50 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversees the appropriate resolution of employee and customer concerns, aligning with the store manager, as needed.
• Communicates job responsibilities and performance expectations to store personnel in conjunction with the store manager to ensure desired results; leads and develops store personnel. 
•Assists the store manager with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results and personnel development.
• Leads store tours during interview events and provides hiring recommendations to the store manager.
• Informs the store manager of team developments and concerns in a timely and effective manner.
• Communicates, cooperates, and interacts effectively with all levels of ALDI employees, customers, third-party vendors and business partners. 
• Leads, develops, and supervises the team to develop sales, engage our teams, satisfy our customers and achieve consistent high performance ​ .
• Understands the overarching company strategy and models the core values of the organization. ​​ 
• Fosters a positive and collaborative working environment and promotes teamwork among employees.
• Trains and develops store personnel to achieve their maximum potential using company-provided training materials.
• Ensures store personnel comply with the company customer service principles and demonstrates   appropriate interactions with customers and co-workers. 
• Resolves concerns from store personnel and customers and/or refers such concerns to the store manager as necessary.  
• Models, communicates and supervises compliance with established policies and procedures. ​​ 
• Prepares, manages and revises weekly schedules in alignment with the scheduling procedures in the absence of the store manager.
• Ensures store personnel adhere to expense guidelines, inventory procedures, product handling, and cash handling policies to minimize loss .
• Ensures store personnel maintain zone standards and merchandising standards at all times.
• Supports the store manager in achieving store KPI budgets by implementing action plans.  
• Monitors the competitive environment surrounding the store and informs the s tore m anager of any changes. 
• Oversees and manages compliance with established policies and procedures within the store, as well as applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Ensures a safe working environment by identifying and rectifying hazards, promoting proper ergonomics, and maintaining equipment in proper working order.
• Supports the s tore m anager with conducting shift start-up, store team and management team meetings, as well as completing financial reviews, store resets and weekly operations agenda action items.
• Stock shelves and displays neatly while following merchandising planograms to maximize sales.
• Properly utilizes the point-of-sale (POS) system to accurately scan and process customer purchases and informs store management of scanning concerns or errors.
• Complete curbside pickup orders by accurately retrieving items from the store, verifying order contents, and ensuring timely delivery to customers’ vehicles from the staging area.
• Performs general cleaning tasks to company standards.
• Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands:

• Required to push, pull, sit, stand, reach, grasp, twist, bend, and move from one area to another.
• Required to lift, carry, and place products weighing up to 45 pounds on shelves at various heights, including overhead.
• Required operation of equipment such as a cash register, electric and manual hand jacks, floor scrubber and cardboard baler.
• Required to stock product in varying temperatures, including freezer and cooler environments.
• Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodations

• Ability to operate all store equipment such as cash registers, floor scrubber, cardboard baler, pallet jacks, handheld devices, computers, etc.

• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. 
• Ability to organize, prioritize and complete activities to maximize the total time available. 
• Ability to establish and successfully execute plans and goals. 
• Ability to maintain reliable and prompt attendance.
• Ability to meet availability requirements.

Education and Experience:

• At least 18 years old required. 
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 
• Prior experience in a retail environment and prior management experience preferred. 

Travel: 

• Travel to the divisional office or training centers for meetings and/or training occasionally.
• Travel is required to surrounding stores within 30 miles or a 45-minute drive, whichever is less, for management coverage as needed.
