Compliance Specialist

The Wisconsin Electric Cooperative Association (WECA) is accepting applications through August 7 for a newly created Compliance Specialist position. The successful candidate will join WECA’s compliance team and support electric distribution utility cooperative members located primarily in northwestern Wisconsin (an area with an approximate 60-mile radius from Osseo, WI). Frequent travel is required; a company vehicle is provided. This position works directly with an assigned group of electric distribution cooperatives to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Responsibilities include exercising independent judgment; developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, safety, transportation, and other regulatory compliance programs; evaluating cooperative practices; ensuring appropriate employee training; maintaining records; and assessing program effectiveness while applying sound business judgment. The ideal candidate has experience in a compliance role and either prior electric utility experience or strong knowledge of electric utility operations. Successful candidates are detail-oriented, self-directed, and able to manage deadlines independently. Strong interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, and pride in delivering high-quality work are essential. Additional qualifications are outlined in the position description. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS Ideally resides within a 60-mile radius of Osseo, WI Have a valid driver's license Experience working with safety, environmental, and transportation regulations applicable to an electric distribution utility. Ability to maintain concentration and focus on sometimes complex projects, including the ability to both comprehend and communicate complex material or requests. Must be able to cope effectively with periodic stress brought about by time pressures and deadlines and/or conflict situations that may arise. Communicate effectively in English in a clear and concise manner with employees, contractors, and the public both in person, in writing, and over the telephone. Dedicated work ethic with personal and professional integrity. Must have basic knowledge of computers and ability to use computer systems.
