Travel Nursing Job Details Location: Norfolk, Virginia Unit: Cardiac Procedural & Surgical Unit Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown / Progressive Care / Telemetry Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250 Start Date: November 2, 2026 Contract Duration: 13 weeks, through February 1, 2027 Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week Shift Duration: 12-hour nights Shift Hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. Openings: 2 Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse Requirements Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Virginia At least 1 year of recent acute-care nursing experience Progressive care, cardiac stepdown, telemetry, or post-surgical nursing experience preferred Ability to work scheduled 12-hour night shifts in an on-site hospital setting Strong cardiac assessment, clinical judgment, communication, and patient-monitoring skills Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in a cardiac stepdown and procedural-surgical environment Monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, pain levels, and changes in patient condition Administer medications and treatments in accordance with provider orders and established protocols Assess patients before and after cardiac procedures and surgical interventions Recognize and respond promptly to clinical deterioration or cardiac-related complications Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate individualized treatment plans Educate patients and families regarding recovery, medications, procedures, and discharge instructions Maintain accurate, timely documentation while promoting safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care Norfolk offers waterfront views, historic neighborhoods, and easy access to the Chesapeake Bay.
