Our mission is to provide seamless solutions when every second matters.The Software Engineer IV is a full stack developer within the software engineering team. Software engineering develops and supports the technology integrated into Nomad's specialty vehicles and shelters. This technology provides detailed insight into each product and allows a user to remotely control its features and functions, as well as log all such activity. This position also includes the opportunity to create software applications that will be incorporated into NTC, but used internally at Nomad by other teams, including Project Management and Finance.ResponsibilitiesBe a substantive contributor to software development efforts by actively participating in software development meetings and providing strategic and technical recommendationsBe able to work on complex projects independentlyDesign system architecture based on client requirementsRecommend solutions by analyzing in-house development options versus third-party alternativesDevelop frontend user interfaces and backend code for internet/intranet applications:Determine design methodologies and toolsetsEstablish comprehensive roadmapCreate multimedia applications using authoring toolsDelegate, as appropriate, and address team questionsManage priorities throughout the development life cycle to ensure completion in a timely mannerRemove or escalate obstaclesManage and review code from Software Engineers at levels I through III / third-party codeDesign and conduct tests prior to deliveryIntegrate applications by designing database architecture and server scripting, including establishing connectivity with network systems, search engines, and information serversDebug and troubleshoot development issues across platformsTake ownership of projects and provide input sufficient to complete SprintsMentor, advise, and coach Software Engineers at levels I through III:Review codeProvide constructive feedback and remove obstaclesEscalate insurmountable issues to managementAdvise on Sprint requirementsWork on multiple projects concurrently and escalate issues in a timely mannerSupport end users by developing documentation and assistance toolsStay current on internet/intranet technologies and software productsWilling to travel to Nomad and customer locations as neededAccountabilitiesSatisfy the above responsibilities on a quarterly basis, specifically:Effectively serve as a team lead by coaching and mentoring, providing constructive feedback, and contributing to the success of Software Engineers at levels I through III; escalation of insurmountable roadblocks.System architecture design, including security, user authentication, authorization, command nodes, session management, SSL certificates, API integration, web sockets, messaging and information exchange, versioning, data logging, dependencies, configurations, code translation, local and cloud hosting, database management, unit testing, and multi-thread development.Master system architecture design, frontend coding, and backend coding sufficient to complete basic-to-moderately challenging projects.Submission of code that is efficient and clean, with minimal bugs.Timely completion of tasks pursuant to agreed-to Sprint requirements in a high-quality manner.Collaborate with other developers and escalate appropriate issues.Actively participate in NTC meetings and demonstrate effective communication.Arrive and depart from work within standard office hours and responsive outside of such hours as needed.Required Education / ExperienceEducation / Experience:MS in Computer Science and 5+ years' experience in web programmingBS in Computer Science or related field and 7+ years' experience in web programmingHigh school degree and 11+ years' experience in web programmingEmployment Experience:4+ years' experience serving as team lead of at least 3 developers.2+ years' experience with web application architecture.Development of multiple successful end-to-end several software applications.Expert understanding of HTML/CSS, frontend frameworks and libraries with experience coding 5+ user interfaces.Expert understanding of web application function.Expert level coding, which is efficient and clean, with minimal bugs.Expert level experience with relational database systems and Object Orientated Programming.Advanced understanding of web application function, including security, session management, SSL Certificates, and user authentication and authorization.Experience leading a software development team and track record of successfully seeing projects through from beginning to completion.Ability to code within an existing structure and framework that may be inconsistent with past experience.Ability to identify, track and follow instructions regardless of whether they are conveyed in meetings, verbally, via email or Teams.TechnicalLanguages: Expert Level - Java, Typescript, NODEJS, JavaScriptFrameworks: Expert Level - Angular 2+ or ReactData Management: Expert Level - SQL, MQTTPreferred Additional ExperienceLanguages: Kotlin, RubyFrameworks: Vue, Express JSData Management: MongoDB, QuestDBSecurity Principles: JSON web tokens, Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)Experience with USG-affiliated coding projectsExperience with network diagnostics and network analytical toolsExperience with web application architectureCompensation & BenefitsNomad offers a competitive base pay along with a benefits packagePromotion & Compensation IncreasesAdvancement based, in part, on regularly exceeding expectations in Quarterly Reviews.Nomad GCS is an equal opportunity employer, (EOE,) and voluntarily follows affirmative action guidelines.
