Job Summary
A growing scrap metal recycling facility is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Shear Crane Operator / Heavy Equipment Operator to join their team. This position is ideal for candidates with experience in crane operation, heavy equipment operation, material handling, recycling, construction, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
The Shear Crane Operator is responsible for safely operating industrial equipment used to process and move scrap metal materials while maintaining a productive, organized, and safety-focused yard environment. Training is available for qualified candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate shear cranes and heavy equipment to process and move scrap metal materials
- Safely load, unload, sort, and organize recyclable materials
- Operate forklifts, loaders, cranes, and other material handling equipment
- Assist with scrap processing and yard operations
- Inspect equipment before use and report maintenance concerns
- Maintain safe operating practices while working around heavy machinery
- Support customer unloading and material drop-off processes
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
- Perform general labor and equipment-related duties as needed
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating a shear crane, excavator, crane, loader, forklift, or heavy equipment preferred
- Experience in scrap metal, recycling, construction, manufacturing, or warehouse operations is a plus
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn equipment operation
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Comfortable working around large machinery and industrial materials
- Ability to lift, move, and handle materials safely
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Commitment to workplace safety and teamwork

Compensation
Starting wage: $22.00 -25.00 per hour (DOE)
