\nThe position will be based at the Texas Behavioral Health Center (TBHC), a newly completed state-funded psychiatric hospital opening in Dallas’ Southwestern Medical District that is owned by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and operated by UT Southwestern Medical Center.
\nWhen fully operational, the 505,000-square-foot facility will house 292 beds – 200 for adult patients and 92 for children and adolescents. As Dallas-Fort Worth’s first state-funded behavioral health hospital, it is designed to deliver state-of-the-art, patient-centered care in a modern and healing environment. The center provides comprehensive behavioral health treatment and features private patient rooms, abundant access to natural light and nature, and thoughtfully designed spaces that promote recovery. The hospital will also provide training to all behavioral health disciplines.

\nPlans for the TBHC include a Partial Hospitalization Program with 8 adult and 6 pediatric units, a Medical Psychiatry Unit, and Interventional Psychiatry (ECT, IV ketamine, TMS). Faculty will have opportunities to innovate on models of care for patients with serious mental illness.
\nProfile
\nWe are recruiting an outstanding Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to lead the Pediatric Evaluation Center at the Texas Behavioral Health Center, supporting the integration of clinical innovation and research. Expertise in emergency psychiatry with children and adolescents is desirable but not necessary. Expertise in emergency psychiatry with children and adolescents is desirable but not necessary. This position will require direct patient care, teaching and supervision of child psychiatry fellows, triple board and psychiatry residents, medical students, advanced practice providers, and other trainees, and support the academic mission of the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. While Texas licensure is not required for consideration or selection, it is a pre-requisite for starting in the position. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated interest in pursuing an academic career. Academic experience and a strong track record of clinical teaching is a plus.
