General Cleaner Full Time Manual Labor Davie, FL, US 11 days ago Requisition ID: 1672 NATURE OF WORK: General cleaners are responsible for the overall cleanliness of the campus which includes but is not limited to offices, resident rooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, clinics, stairwells, and other public areas such as dining rooms and waiting areas. They must maintain a safe and clean environment for students, staff, and visitors, and maintain a professional demeanor. Duties include cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting all areas. EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Disinfecting, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting assigned areas using checklists/duty list. Disinfect toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, counters, showers, bathtubs, patient areas, and scrub walls; dust and vacuum furniture, blinds, windows or shades, fixtures, doors, and related furnishings using appropriate cleaning supplies. Maintain the appropriate level of sanitary and cleaning supplies for assigned areas. Maintain assigned equipment in good working condition. Cleans interior glass and dusts and polishes furniture. Disinfect and maintain ice machine and water fountains. Maintain stainless steel on water fountains, elevators, restrooms etc.; collect and remove trash from buildings each day. Replace sharps containers, transport trash, and remove empty boxes. Pick up and dispose of hazardous-regulated-infectious waste as required. Disinfect patient, student & staff area restrooms, vanity areas, showers, and locker rooms. Disinfect utility rooms, waiting rooms, public restrooms keeping all in orderly condition. Maintain clean environment on campus and in campus offices by sweeping and mopping tile floors and/or vacuuming carpet, dusting, light shields, base boards, ledges, and windowsills. Thoroughly clean and disinfect high‑touch items such as tabletops, desktops, chairs, exterior wash stations, handles, knobs, and light switches on a continuing basis with disinfecting wipes. Monitor and restock restroom dispensers such as hand towels, toilet paper, hand soap and sanitary napkins. Complete all daily work orders as scheduled. Participate in special projects and accept new projects when assigned. Follow all housekeeping policies and procedures. Show awareness of health and safety information at work and act safely. Perform physical tasks that require bending, stooping, and reaching. Use moderate verbal communication skills to interact with patients, students & staff, often under stressful situations. Apply technical knowledge of general & specialized cleaning procedures & products. Assist with office or room special cleaning as needed; assist in project work if assigned by department leadership. Be on call for flood relief or other immediate relief efforts if needed. Maintain confidentiality of all materials handled within the campus and company. Demonstrate responsibility and accountability through effective use of resources in daily procedures. Comply with campus and departmental policies regarding the dress code. Be mindful of slip, trip or fall hazards. Label chemicals correctly. Use appropriate cleaning supplies according to departmental procedures. Follow safe and proper cleaning procedures to prepare patient areas and other assigned areas in a timely and efficient manner. Maintain housekeeping closet and equipment in the area of responsibility clean and in order. Maintain daily records of all work performed in accordance with departmental policies and procedures (daily checklist/duty list). Perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis despite frequent interruptions. Perform tasks with due consideration for patients in vicinity. Work under close supervision performing standardized tasks. Receive assignment, assemble needed materials and supplies, load service cart and transport. Enhance professional growth and development through in‑service and other educational training. Report any discrepancies or deficiencies to supervisor. Perform other related duties as assigned by department management deemed operationally necessary. Represent Encompass in a positive manner; follow oral instructions, be pleasant, tactful, courteous and cooperative with supervisor, co‑workers, residents, and client staff. Accomplish all responsibilities without supervision or assistance after the training period is completed without injury to oneself or others. Complete all in‑services. Clock in and out, adhere to attendance policy, consistently embody characteristics necessary to drive the company's mission, vision, and core values. Follow oral and written instructions. Speak, read and write English/Spanish to communicate effectively. Cooperate with other employees and be willing to perform routine, repetitive tasks continuously. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical ability to bend, stoop, reach; lift more than 30 lbs several times per shift (e.g., waste & soiled laundry handling, trash handling). Perform repetitive motions in dust‑mopping, wet mopping, vacuuming, and hand scrubbing. Operate & control equipment such as vacuums. Pull, push, carry weight up to 50 pounds, twist, bend, and reach from floor to waist height and from waist to above head. FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt. EEO Classification: Service Workers.
