Raymond Laborde Correctional Center is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join the team in the Nursing Department as a Practical Nurse-Licensed 1, 2, or 3! You could join the group of other medical professionals who perform the nursing and care of inmates within a state correctional facility. Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

• Administers prescribed medications to the inmate population in accordance with facility protocols, ensuring accuracy, safety, and proper documentation for all medication passes.
• Transcribes provider orders with precision, entering medications, treatments, and clinical directives into the appropriate systems while adhering to regulatory and facility standards.
• Conducts nursing assessments on inmates, evaluating physical and mental health status, identifying changes in condition, and communicating findings to the appropriate clinical providers.
• Performs venipuncture and collects laboratory specimens, preparing and processing samples according to clinical guidelines and maintaining chain-of-custody requirements.
• Responds promptly to inmate medical and mental health emergencies, providing immediate triage, stabilization, and nursing interventions until advanced care is available.

Position-Specific Details:

• Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
• Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
• An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
• This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.

An active LPN license is required.

Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level. However, the salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

• Practical Nurse--Licensed 1 has an SER of $19.48 per hour
• Practical Nurse--Licensed 2 has an SER of $20.84 per hour
• Practical Nurse--Licensed 3 has an SER of $22.30 per hour

This position also offers premium pay: A rate of $5.00 per hour for each hour worked, in addition to regular pay.

Career Progression Group: PRACTICAL NURSE--LICENSED 1, 2, OR 3

• Filled at the highest level of experience of the selected applicant.
• Salary depends on level of experience.

Work Environment: The employee would work with other nurses, LPN's and RN's
