Job Purpose
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for analyzing inventory data, monitoring product holds, and tracking key inventory metrics. This role includes processing emails, data and order entry, processing, researching, and resolving inventory discrepancies and claims. The Inventory Specialist maintains accurate tracking and reporting of inventory, including Finished Goods, CHEP pallets, PECO pallets, and other materials as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Data and order entry: Accurately input inventory control data to ensure inventory integrity.
- Performs physical counts of inventory including Finished Goods, Pallets, and Materials to maintain accurate inventory.
- Counts, reconciles, and reports inventory daily.
- Completes necessary documentation thoroughly, accurately, and on time.
- Monitor and audit on-hold products, finished goods and specialized pallets (e.g. CHEP, PECO, etc.), transfer orders and inventory across multiple warehouses, and identify/resolve stock discrepancies.
- Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.
- Reconciles customer claims against Inventory Adjustments and research as appropriate.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to support business goals.
- Other tasks assigned by supervisor/manager.
Additional Responsibilities
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ensures compliance with inventory processes and procedures, and contractual obligations.
- Ability to physically count articles or products on shelves, racks and pallets.
- Utilize computer terminal to properly account for inventory issues, returns, and documentation.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1-3 months related experience and/or training in Inventory Control, Quality or Warehouse environment.
- Experience using WMS software a plus (Synapse preferred).
- PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Access Database.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and reporting.
Education and/or Experience Required
- High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read and write emails; in a clear and professional manner.
- Experience working with multiple warehouse locations preferred.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to determine "root cause" of problem and determine corrective action.
Computer Skills
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite for writing emails, reconciling data in spreadsheets, and interpreting and/or creating reports.
- Ability to analyze reports and data.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
- Must be able to stand; walk; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl.
- Must be able to activate phone systems utilizing keyboards and buttons.
- Must be articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others.
- Regularly works in an indoor/office environment and required to sit and/or use repetitive hand motion.
- Frequently required to talk, hear, stand and walk.
- Must be able to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required.
- Must be able to work under stressful situations, have good cognitive skills, maintain work accuracy, and the ability to concentrate on more than one task at a time.
- Must have the ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media with 20/20 corrected vision.
- Must be able to speak and communicate clearly over telephones.
- Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances.
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment will range from quiet to moderately loud.
