Job Summary To assist the surgical team during operative procedures by preparing sterile equipment for the operation, and in addition passing instruments, sponges and sutures to the operating team. Responsibilities Assist with: Sterilization of instruments Preparation and selection of equipment for procedures Transfer of patients as needed Turnover of rooms Turnover and transfer of instruments to CSR/Decontamination Putting equipment back in place Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications* Surgical Technologist Senior requirements: High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary. Completion of an accredited or military Surgical Technologist program is required. Two years' experience as a Surgical Technologist is required. Surgical Technologist Intermediate requirements: High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary. Completion of an accredited or military Surgical Technologist program is required. Desired Qualifications* Ambulatory surgery experience. Ability to scrub Orthopedic Sports Medicine. Adult Otolaryngology, Plastic, General, Urology, Gynecological Surgery and Vascular. Self motivated and excellent organization skills. Completion of a Surgical Technologist certification program. Desired Qualifications – Intermediate Experience in the Operating Room O.R. setting performing scrub duties in multi-surgical specialties. Demonstrated interpersonal skills with ability to work as a team member. Ability to meet functional job requirements. Demonstrated excellence in professional communication. Recent prior experience in scrubbing complex orthopedic cases. Desired Qualifications – Senior Experience in the Operating Room O.R. setting performing scrub duties in multi-surgical specialties. Minimum of 3 years of recent O.R. experience is required for placement at the Senior level. Demonstrated interpersonal skills with ability to work as a team member. Ability to meet functional job requirements. Demonstrated excellence in professional communication. Recent prior experience in scrubbing complex orthopedic cases. Start time: 10:00 a.m. Work Locations The work requires a fully onsite presence at a designated U‑M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan.
