Underwriter - P&C Insurance

As an Underwriter, you will play a key role in supporting new business production and underwriting operations for UIP’s programs. This position focuses on evaluating risk, pricing accounts, and building strong relationships with brokers while maintaining underwriting discipline and profitability. You will work closely with brokers, carriers, and internal teams to assess opportunities, support program growth, and deliver best-in-class underwriting service. What You Will Do: Evaluate, select, price, and classify risks in accordance with established underwriting guidelines Determine appropriate coverage terms, conditions, limits, and pricing for individual accounts Support new business production by working closely with brokers to quote and bind accounts Maintain clear and consistent communication with agents and brokers throughout the underwriting process Collaborate with internal teams to ensure efficient workflows and high service standards Stay current on industry trends, emerging risks, and market conditions impacting the program Balance growth opportunities with sound underwriting judgment to support profitability Contribute to a team-oriented environment focused on accountability and continuous improvement What You Will Need: Active Insurance License – or can obtain within 30 days of hire 2+ years of insurance experience Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong relationship-building skills with a customer-focused mindset Team-oriented attitude with a strong work ethic and accountability Preferred Qualifications: Experience in customer service, preferably within the insurance industry (personal or commercial lines) Ability to communicate clearly and effectively while managing service expectations Experience collaborating with insurance brokers and agency partners Ability to perform effectively in high-volume or fast-paced underwriting environments Tools & Technology: Experience with or can learn Agency Management Systems (e.g., Applied EPIC, AMS360) Carrier portals and online underwriting platforms Insurance rating tools and comparative raters CRM systems Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams) Online underwriting tools & rating systems The Details: Phoenix, AZ based position (hybrid flexibility if applicable) Competitive salary and bonus opportunity Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits 401(k) with company match Paid vacation and company holidays Opportunity to grow your career within a rapidly expanding, relationship-driven organization #J-18808-Ljbffr Universal Insurance Programs
