Director of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development

Job Title: Director of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development Department: Faculty Affairs, School of Medicine Location: Macon, GA (Primary – other locations may be considered) Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for faculty affairs functions across all MUSM campuses. Manage office logistics and faculty processes including recruitment, onboarding, appointments, promotion and tenure, evaluation, governance, faculty development, and accreditation reporting. Exercise independent judgment in the development and interpretation of faculty policies. Oversee faculty data systems and performance metrics, serving as key liaison to academic leadership, Human Resources, Finance, and the Dean’s Office. Design, implement, and evaluate faculty development initiatives across undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education programs. Support institutional planning, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts in a complex academic medical environment. Report directly to the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education, Adult Education, Human Resources, Communications, or a related field and three years of progressively responsible experience in faculty affairs, academic administration, healthcare administration, or a related area. Or a master’s degree and one year of the aforementioned experience. Valid driver’s license. Complete a criminal history check. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders. Proven ability to lead and influence across diverse stakeholder groups while advancing institutional initiatives. Ability to independently develop, analyze, and present reports incorporating goals, performance metrics, and data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making. Strong presentation skills in both in-person and virtual settings. Experience in process improvement, policy development, and project management within complex organizations. Advanced analytical skills, including design and management of data systems and translation of information into actionable insights. Strong organizational skills with capacity to manage competing priorities and handle highly sensitive and confidential information. Working knowledge of budgeting, financial planning, and resource management. High degree of autonomy and independent judgment aligned with institutional objectives. Proficiency with databases, spreadsheets, and reporting tools. Responsible use of AI-enabled platforms to enhance analysis and operational efficiency. Travel capability for infrequent work-related assignments, meetings, trainings, or site visits (approximately 2–4 days per academic year).
