Opportunity Overview

Our organization is on the lookout for a Physician with a passion for Clinical Informatics to become part of our dynamic and collaborative multispecialty team in Santa Barbara, CA.

This distinctive role features a combination of 70% clinical practice and 30% informatics leadership , enabling physicians to actively engage with patients while also enhancing clinical workflows, technology use, and patient care delivery.

We encourage applications from physicians with backgrounds in primary care, pediatrics, or subspecialties, particularly those with strong ambulatory experience .

The Physician, serving as the Medical Director of Informatics, will act as a physician leader and intermediary among clinical teams, operations, and IT, facilitating the optimization and integration of electronic health records (EHR) and digital tools throughout the organization.

This position merges direct patient care (0.7 FTE) with clinical informatics leadership (0.3 FTE) to enhance quality, efficiency, and the provider experience.

Primary Responsibilities

Clinical Duties (0.7 FTE)

• Deliver comprehensive outpatient care in either a primary care or specialty capacity.

• Build and oversee a patient panel within a collaborative team setting.

• Provide high-quality, patient-focused care.

• Work in partnership with specialists across a diverse multispecialty group.

Informatics Leadership Duties (0.3 FTE)

• Act as a clinical informatics leader to support EHR optimization and workflow development.

• Serve as a bridge between physicians, operations, and IT.

• Lead projects aimed at enhancing clinical efficiency, usability, and patient outcomes.

• Facilitate EHR governance, adoption, and system improvements.

• Engage in system design, testing, training, and support during implementation.

• Promote physician involvement and education regarding digital tools.

• Oversee EHR training initiatives for physicians and advanced practice clinicians (APCs) .

• Contribute to quality improvement and data-driven care initiatives.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree.

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in a relevant specialty (e.g., Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or other applicable fields).

• Possession of an active California medical license (or eligibility to obtain one).

• DEA certification required.

Essential Qualifications

• Experience in active clinical practice within an ambulatory setting.

• Familiarity with ambulatory workflows in Epic .

• Strong grasp of clinical workflows and patient care processes.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across clinical, operational, and technical teams.

• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Clinical Informatics .

• Epic certification or advanced training (e.g., Smart User Badge, Builder Certification, or similar).

• Experience in EHR optimization, workflow design, or health IT projects.

• Background in leading or supporting provider education and training programs.

• Involvement in leadership or committees focused on informatics or quality improvement.
