Senior Capital Project Manager

Job Description Under the direction of the Capital Portfolio Manager, this position ensures that the day‑to‑day operational and managerial needs of planning, design, and construction for care sites in specified geographic areas are completed on time, within budget, and comply with system design guidelines and construction standards. The position is responsible for managing schedule and budgetary controls on assigned projects, providing assistance to Pillar Operations, and interfacing with outside architects, engineers, contractors, state departments, building officials, vendors, and other partners as a representative of Intermountain Health. Essential Functions Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and other regulatory bodies including the Joint Commission, OSHA, and other accrediting and certifying bodies during the design and construction management process. Develop and lead project teams, coordination with facility management, infection prevention, and other subject‑matter experts. Provide professional assistance and leadership on A/E and contractor selection, contract deliverables, change orders, payments, and close‑out. Negotiate and review A/E agreements, contractor agreements, and other professional agreements. Manage day‑to‑day design and construction, lead coordination meetings, maintain schedules and budgets, review change orders, vendor invoices, construction quality, and ensure decisions benefit Intermountain Health. Resolve day‑to‑day issues promptly and maintain communication between team members. Review and comment on design documents, construction documents, specifications, estimates, engineering reports, and code interpretations. Act as a subject‑matter expert on building codes, regulatory requirements, and insurance regulations. Support the Capital Portfolio Manager in developing scope, schedules, cost estimates, and budgets. Coordinate operations improvement initiatives and technology investments within projects. Participate in local and corporate design and construction teams, applying best practices and delivery standards. Serve as a professional role model within areas of accountability. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills Construction Long‑term planning Construction projects Design Budgeting Building construction People management Business Closeouts Building architecture Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, or an Associate’s degree with equivalent experience. Five to seven years of work experience in planning, design, or construction operations. Knowledge of principles of architecture, engineering, and construction. Knowledge of FGI, NFPA, and ICC/IBC codes. Experience preparing contract documents. Experience in medical facility design and construction administration. Understanding of construction scheduling, building codes, contract documents, and construction processes. Knowledge of infection control requirements. Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet, e‑mail, and scheduling applications. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Construction Management or related field. Professional license. Ten years of experience in planning, design, or construction operations. Familiarity with regulatory agencies such as the Joint Commission and OSHA. Project Management Professional, CMAA, or AIC certification. Physical Requirements Interact with others and communicate information. Operate computers, telephones, office equipment, and manipulate paper. See and read computer monitors and documents. Remain seated or standing for extended periods while working on a computer, telephone, or other equipment. Benefits and Compensation You are eligible to participate in the Annual Pay for Performance (AP4P) Plan, which offers additional performance compensation based on achieving Board‑approved goals. The hourly range for this position is $51.73 – $79.87, dependent on experience.
