CNC Machinist/Programmer

CNC Machinists/ProgrammersWe are partnering with a precision CNC machining manufacturer in Indianapolis, IN seeking experienced CNC Machinists/Programmers to support complex, high-tolerance work for the aerospace, defense, space, and medical device industries.Three areas of expertise are being considered:5-Axis CNC Mill ProgrammingMulti-Axis CNC Turning Center ProgrammingSwiss CNC Machining/ProgrammingThis isn't a high-volume, simple-parts programming environment. You'll work with complex geometries, extremely tight tolerances, modern CNC equipment, and advanced CAM software to develop machining processes for mission-critical components.The company operates within AS9100D and ISO 13485 quality systems and offers an environment where experienced programmers can tackle challenging work, improve processes, and continue developing their technical expertise.Responsibilities:Develop CNC programs for complex 5-axis milling, multi-axis turning, and Swiss lathe operationsProgram precision components for a variety of applications across multiple industriesDevelop and optimize machining strategies for complex geometries and tight-tolerance partsUtilize advanced CAM software and G-code to create efficient, reliable CNC programsReview engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirementsDetermine appropriate machining methods, tooling, workholding, speeds, feeds, and cutting strategiesTroubleshoot programming and machining issues during setup, first article, and productionOptimize programs to improve cycle time, tool life, part quality, and overall machining efficiencyPartner with machinists, engineering, and quality/metrology teams to validate programs and processesSupport first-article inspection and make programming adjustments as neededMaintain programming and process documentation in accordance with established quality requirementsSupport existing production with program modifications and continuous process improvementsRequirements:Proven experience as a CNC Machinist/Programmer in a precision machining environmentStrong experience programming 5-axis CNC mills, multi-axis CNC turning centers, and/or Swiss lathesProficiency with CNC CAM softwareStrong understanding of G-code and CNC machining fundamentalsExperience machining complex parts to tight tolerancesAbility to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specificationsStrong knowledge of GD&TUnderstanding of tooling, workholding, cutting strategies, speeds, and feedsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilitiesHigh attention to detail and commitment to producing quality partsExperience within aerospace, defense, medical device, space, or another highly regulated precision manufacturing environment preferredFamiliarity with AS9100 and/or ISO 13485 quality standards is a plusWhat You'll Get:Opportunity to program challenging, high-precision CNC components rather than repetitive production workModern CNC machining technology and advanced programming toolsExposure to complex 5-axis and Swiss lathe machining applicationsStrong quality and metrology supportProjects serving aerospace, defense, and medical applicationsOpportunities to continuously expand your CNC programming and machining expertiseCompetitive compensation based on experienceStable precision manufacturing environment with a strong focus on quality and technologyIf you're the machinist or programmer who enjoys the parts other shops would rather turn away, this could be a great next challenge.
