Cafeteria Program Assistant

Assists in total operation of the cafeteria program. Knowledge of food handling and sanitation procedures. A person who, under the supervision of the kitchen manager, performs the various tasks necessary to prepare, serve, and clean up after the school food service meals. High school diploma/G.E.D.

Assists in preparation and serving food in a quick and pleasant manner. Produces quality food products and follows standardized recipes closely. Operates a variety of equipment, including grinder, mixer, oven, range, dishwasher, steam kettle, slicer, etc. When tasks are completed checks with manager and others for instruction to help others. Team players are essential in all successful operations. Assist in general daily clean up of the kitchen and service areas. Assists in major cleaning or refrigerators and storerooms at regularly scheduled intervals as requested. Attends relevant training classes and workshops in order to maintain food service knowledge. Assists with the proper storage and disposal of unused foods. Deals with students, parents, staff, and others in a positive encouraging manner. Knows and follows school policy and chain of command. Acts ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment. Performs such school-related duties as assigned by the supervisor(s).
