Responsibilities The duties of the first assistant include: assisting the surgeon by providing visualization of the surgical site through retraction of tissue, and sponging, assisting with achieving hemostasis and suturing of body planes. Prepare the operating room with necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and work closely with the circulating nurse. Terminally clean the operating room after each procedure and restock supplies. Under the direction of a registered nurse, carry out all scrub duties as outlined in the department procedure manual. Create and maintain a sterile field and provide instruments to the surgeon. Qualifications Job Requirements: High School graduate or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited Surgical Tech program. Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) as a CSFA. Suturing Class Certificate of Completion. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care. Preferred Job Requirements: 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technician preferred. Typing and computer skills preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
