The Physical Therapy Assistant functions as a member of a student’s educational team to provide comprehensive treatment of impairments in gross motor skills, balance, coordination, strength, mobility, endurance, and other functional school-based activities in preschool and school-aged children. These challenges may limit a child’s ability to safely access their school environment and participate with their peers. The candidate must possess a strong working knowledge of treatment practices, evidence-based research, recommended school-based best practices, environmental adaptations, and expected roles and responsibilities of a Physical Therapy Assistant in an educational setting. The PTA will: Utilize current evidence-based practices to treat impairments in gross motor skills, mobility, balance, strength, coordination, and functional movement Comply with special education service delivery within federal, state, and county procedural guidelines Collaborate with the supervising PT in the development and implementation of IEPs for students requiring physical therapy as a related service, and participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team Provide ethical, student-centered, and evidence-based treatment Communicate and consult with students, parents, educators, administrators, and outside agency professionals Requirements: A valid degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program A valid state licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant Office - 100 England St. Ashland, VA 23005 #J-18808-Ljbffr Allied Instructional
