Engineering Technician (Maintenance Technician)

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an Engineering Technician to support the maintenance and repair of laboratory and research equipment across its campus. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in industrial maintenance. No previous experience is required-the successful candidate will be trained on the job.

The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on mechanical work, is dependable, willing to learn, and is comfortable working in both shop and laboratory environments.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on laboratory support equipment.
• Assist with servicing:
• Air compressors
• Dryers
• Boilers
• Chillers
• Cooling towers
• Other facility support equipment
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues to minimize laboratory downtime.
• Perform preventive maintenance according to written procedures.
• Complete maintenance documentation and work records.
• Work independently or alongside experienced maintenance technicians.
• Safely operate common hand and power tools.
• Operate shop equipment including:
• Drill press
• Band saw
• Bench grinders
• Basic metalworking equipment
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Drive a company pickup truck or golf cart on campus when necessary.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• No prior maintenance experience required.
• Basic knowledge or interest in:
• Mechanical systems
• Carpentry
• Maintenance
• Shop work
• Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Background

Candidates with experience, coursework, or personal projects involving any of the following are encouraged to apply:

Physical Requirements

This position requires:

• Frequent walking and standing throughout the day
• Bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, and climbing ladders
• Working on cooling towers up to approximately 25 feet
• Lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted
• Working around mechanical equipment and moderate to high noise levels

Requirements

• Steel-toe boots required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Must successfully pass an MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) check.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• No security clearance required.

Schedule:

• Monday - Friday
• 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
