Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Mid 4x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Must have an active nursing license prior to start date Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, PALS, NIH, TNCC Must-Have: Must have Level 2 trauma experience. Must be willing to work charge. Floating is 100% required of all travelers. Description: This role is in a trauma center with a standard patient capacity of 48 beds, which can flex to accommodate up to 62 beds using hall beds if needed. Regular ED patients will not exceed a staffing ratio of 1:4. Hold assignments might include a ratio of 4:1 for progressive holds and 5:1 for medical holds. The emergency department averages approximately 6.6 behavioral health patients per day. Candidates must confirm their comfort moving forward with the duties of this position. Previous charge experience is required. Experience with a patient ratio of 3-4 is necessary. Charting system experience is needed, specifically with a recognized system. Candidates must have familiarity with general emergency department procedures, including both adult and pediatric care. Essential skills include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, phlebotomy, starting IVs, and providing procedural sedation administration. Additional necessary skills involve management of ventilated patients, isolation precautions, and CPAP/BiPAP usage. The department supports a variety of interdisciplinary services, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. The patient population encompasses neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays as part of the contract requirements. Supervisory references are required as part of the submission process. Travelers will be expected to float within the hospital or to affiliated facilities as needed. This position is open to first-time travelers.
