It comprises a comprehensive range of services, including a 221-bed hospital and numerous clinics. The registered professional nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients during designated shifts. Nursing care is prescribed based on the nursing process, consistent with the medical plan of care. Input from patients and significant others is integrated into care planning. Collaboration with physicians and other healthcare team members is essential. The nurse coordinates the delivery of patient care for all age groups. This includes neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Teaching and discharge planning needs are incorporated into the overall plan of care. Delegation of certain patient care delivery aspects to other nursing staff is based on current clinical competence and legal scope of practice. This position is represented by a nursing association. Education and work experience preferences include a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) and acute care facility experience. Essential functions include utilizing the nursing process to assess patients, design individualized care plans, and evaluate the effectiveness of care. Modifications to care plans are made as necessary. The nurse considers age-specific, cultural, and spiritual needs. Collaboration with other disciplines formulates the plan of care. Knowledge of illnesses, injuries, and diseases guides patient care delivery. Utilization of pharmacological knowledge is essential for medication administration. Patient and family education is provided throughout all phases of care. Assessment of patient knowledge is conducted, with appropriate learning activities planned. Emergency situations require prompt and calm responses, adhering to established protocols. Oversight of patient care delivery ensures safety and well-being. Observations and problems regarding patients must be reported timely. Responsibility for problem-solving and clinical decision-making is emphasized. Continuity of care must be ensured by processing physician's orders promptly. Setting appropriate priorities in patient care is crucial. The nurse acts as a patient advocate, ensuring rights are preserved. Knowledge of job descriptions allows for appropriate delegation to support staff. Communication skills are utilized for effective interactions with patients and coworkers. Documentation of assessments and care provided is required. Technical aspects of patient care are performed according to established policies. Preparation and administration of medications and IV therapy take age-specific needs into account.
