** TITLE: Patient Access Specialist
** LOCATION: Hybrid (2 Days Office | 3 Days Remote) | Client Location: 11800 Weston Parkway Cary NC 27513
** DURATION: 2-month assignment with the possibility of extension
** WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday 9am - 6pm, 10am-7pm
Pay Rate: $20.00/hr. W2 - $24.00/hr. W2
Position Summary
- This role supports patients receiving specialty and rare/orphan medications by helping navigate insurance coverage, prior authorization requirements, pharmacy claims, refills, and medication delivery.
- The Patient Access Specialist will work directly with patients, caregivers, providers, physicians, and clinics to resolve insurance and medication access issues while maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring timely coordination of therapy.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify and enter prescription insurance information into patient profiles
- Perform eligibility checks and pharmacy claim adjudication
- Troubleshoot rejected or denied claims and communicate resolution requirements
- Support providers throughout the prior authorization process
- Handle inbound calls from patients, providers, physicians, and clinics
- Respond to questions regarding orders, services, financial support, and medication access
- Serve as a resource for pharmacy claim adjudication issues
- Document detailed and accurate progress notes in patient profiles
- Coordinate medication deliveries and payment information
- Manage patient refills and follow up to support therapy adherence
- Identify and report adverse events and product complaints to appropriate clinical staff
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient privacy throughout all interactions
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- 2+ years of pharmacy or healthcare experience
- Hands-on experience with insurance eligibility and prior authorization processes
- Experience with pharmacy claims and/or claims adjudication
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft applications
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to understand and explain complex information
- Strong problem-solving and prioritization skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Understanding of HIPAA and patient privacy requirements
- Preferred Qualification: Current CPhT certification in good standing, preferred but not required.
