Job Responsibilities for a Plumbing Estimator
- Analyze data to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. Perform accurate plumbing quantity takeoffs (piping, fittings, valves, specialties, fixtures, insulation, supports, equipment connections, etc.)
- Review proposals to find the most cost-efficient way to complete projects for bidding.
- Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, construction superintendents, and engineers to discuss and formulate estimates.
- Review bid documents (drawings, specifications, addenda, scopes, and schedules) to understand project requirements and identify risks, conflicts, or missing information.
- Prepare proposals, finalize estimates for prospective projects.
- Site visits (as needed).
Qualifications for a Plumbing Estimator
- 3 to 10+ years' experience as a Plumbing Estimator
- Experience with estimating software - Quote Express or similar.
- Ability to support design-assist, negotiated, and/or plan-and-spec bidding.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Must be able to complete advanced mathematical functions.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong time management skills.
